The gateway unit functions as an interface between the Lightlink RS485 data highway and systems communicating via RS232.

There are two types of communication: simple & complex.

The simple command protocol can be used to set the level of any channel or group of channels and to select any scene programmed into the lighting system. Simple commands consist of ASCII text strings.

The complex command set allows full configuration and monitoring of the lighting system from a computer running the Polaron Millennium Lightlink Dimmer Manager Software. The computer can either be fixed or portable.

Using the simple protocol, the gateway enables the lighting system to be linked to a third party system via RS232, such as those supplied by AMX, Crestron, Avenger and Honeywell. Click here for our RS232 protocol document.
