Multiplexor

The multiplexor allows a PC or RS232 enabled system to communicate with up to 16 separate data highways simultaneously.

Each data highway to be controlled or monitored centrally, is connected directly to the multiplexor. This approach offers a considerable hardware saving against systems that use a backbone technology and therefore require separate expensive backbone routes.

The multiplexor does not need any power from the data highways and as such, only requires a 2-wire connection from each data highway. By using multi-pair Belden cable (or equivalent), it is possible to connect many data highways via one 25mm conduit. In this scenario, each data highway taps into a main riser which contains the multi-pair Belden.
