Project: Hilton Metropole Hotel
Location: Edgware Road, London
Contractor: N.G. Bailey Project
Value: £450,000
Description of Project:
Design, manufacture & installation of audio-visual, voice evacuation,
simultaneous translation, public address, background music and
induction loop systems in two ballrooms each 1250m2, function
rooms, meeting rooms and public areas. The company also supplied
an extensive dimming system for the ballrooms and meeting rooms.
Technical Details:
The voice evacuation system employ’s Polaron’s unique ‘Intellect’
intelligent routing matrix. Each zone uses interleaved amplification,
fully backed up with a float battery system. Computerised routing
matrices have been employed to simplify room division control.
A flexible modular mixing system allows injection of production
audio visual equipment into the amplification and video infrastructure
from local wall and ceiling facility panels. The sound is delivered
using a combination of ultra-high quality loudspeakers in the
ballrooms and high efficiency loudspeakers for all public areas.
The custom-designed induction loop system for the hearing impaired
is a particularly complex system. Its special loop topology
uses phase quadrature to minimise interference between adjacent
areas whilst providing superb evenness of coverage.
The dimming system uses Polaron’s ‘Lightlink’ range of products.
Scene setting is provided either from wall mounted push button
plates, LCD touch screens or a central PC. Diagnostics and reconfiguration
can be carried out remotely from Polaron’s Headquarters via
an ISDN link.
Design Features:
Power output of audio system greater than 7kW.
Simplified division control via 24 memory presets.
Fully monitored system integrated with fire detection system.
Custom designed facility panels incorporating audio, video and
data.
The actual connected load at the dimmer racks is 231 KW , however,
this has the capacity to be increased to a maximum of 1.2 MW
for future expansion of the lighting system.
